My name is Ivan Broad. I am a Psychotherapist, accredited with the National Counselling Society and registered with the BACP.
I was originally trained as a Person Centred Counsellor but spent 10 years working in a Therapeutic Community setting where Psychodynamic theory underpinned my work. I later trained in Hypnotherapy and more recently Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and EMDR. I trained with Mike Delaney, an addictions specialist, a huge advocate of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and now work with a herd of therapy horses delivering this innovative approach to working with addictions and complex trauma. I now class myself as an Integrative Psychotherapist, tailoring the work I offer to clients to what they need to move forward. I work from a trauma informed perspective and explore how trauma has impacted on clients, leading them into addiction to cope with the original trauma or complex trauma.
EMDR – Module 1 – 2018
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (LEAP method) – 2017
Diploma in Hypnotherapy – 2014
Diploma in Counselling – 2008
Certificate in Counselling – 2006
I have over 10 years experience of facilitating group Psychotherapy and working 1 to 1 with a range of presenting issues. I have managed 20 and 40 bed Therapeutic Communities within a forensic setting, delivering national training and experiential workshops to staff groups in the prison estate.
I help people work through a range of issues, firstly exploring their history, identifying the best treatment approach and then building the trust and safety within our therapeutic relationship to work towards the depth of treatment needed to work at the root cause of the trauma.
