About me
My name is Mark Aitchison.
Many years ago when I started my training to become a counsellor I volunteered as a drug and alcohol mentor with an organisation then called Foundation 66, now known as Futures in Mind.
Having experienced addiction issues myself I realised early on that I was able to connect with my clients and their life stories very naturally with empathy and a level of some understanding.
I originally trained learning psychodynamic theory. I then decided to train as an integrative counsellor as I found this gave me new skills allowing me to be more adaptable with the approach that was needed with the different clients that I worked with and the time constraints faced within different agencies.
Over the last few years, I have developed my training, theories and practical experience allowing my own style to develop which is starting to receive positive feedback from both clients and supervisors.
I have recently opened my own private practice in the Rye Park area of Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire where I am hoping to continue my work and develop this approach further.
