Things to Consider Before Choosing a Rehab Clinic in London

15th June 2022 by Nicholas Conn Leave a Comment

If you know you need rehab help but don’t know where to turn for it, read this article first.

Choosing the right rehab clinic for you could be the difference between a successful recovery and an ongoing problem. Not everyone succeeds in rehab the first time they go. In fact, it’s likely you will need to return once or twice before you have a firm hold on your recovery. Often, clients opt for a single week or month, struggle with the transition back to normal life, and go for a second boat instead of relapsing. It’s safe and healthy, and it makes perfect sense.

The Wrong Rehab gives you a Bad Start in Recovery

However, not everyone chooses the correct rehab clinic to make a full recovery from their first visit. If you check into a rehab clinic in London that doesn’t feature the facilities or amenities you need to recovery securely, you won’t develop the fondness for rehab clinics that successfully recovered former addicts have. Not developing the bond means you won’t try again. As you can see, this means that going to the wrong centre can do harm.

How do you Choose the Right Rehab Clinic for You?

So how do you choose the right rehab clinic? You turn to the UK’s #1 rehab selection service and trust us to guide you. We urge you to call us to discuss all your options. We are available for a friendly chat and advice on 0203 955 7700. When you call us, we will ask you a series of questions which will determine your rehab clinic needs. By narrowing down the London rehab clinic choices according to your specifications, we can help you choose the correct rehab clinic the first time around.

Don’t want to call Help4Addiction? That’s fine. Below, we listed some considerations you should make before you agree to attend that London based rehab clinic that’s on your mind.

Questions to Ask Before Signing into Rehab

Before you get help, make sure it is the right help for you by asking these questions.

Q) Is it residential?

Asking if the rehab clinic is residential or not allows you to find out whether you will stay in your own home, or in the clinic itself. There is a third option known as quasi-residential rehab. This type of rehab allows you to live in a hotel or hostel space and travel to the rehab clinic. You will be away from home but not studying where you sleep.

Some people find being removed from their environment allows for faster recovery. Others find it easier to live at home with the full support of their family. The choice is yours.

Q) How much therapy is included?

Make sure to ask how many therapy sessions you get per week, and what form they take. A good rehab clinic will allow you group therapy two or more times per week. You should see an individual therapist, counsellor, or psychiatrist, once per week at the minimum. The more therapy sessions are offered, the better your chance at getting a hold on your recovery.

Q) What extracurricular activities are there?

Not the thing that springs to your mind when you think of rehab but just as important as therapy, the extra-curricular activities are what makes a rehab clinic appealing. For instance, if you have a stressful life and the stress sends you further into addiction, a rehab clinic with lots of relaxation activities will suit you best. On the other hand, if you live a sedentary lifestyle and want a physical challenge while you recover, a clinic with sports facilities and a gym will suit you best.

Q) How many other patients are there?

Asking a clinic about how many patients they see might seem rude, but it’s the best indication of a good clinic. Too many clients means a waiting list and you won’t get to recover on your own schedule. On the other hand, too few clients might indicate something wrong within the rehab centre.

Q) What workshops and sessions are included?

Some rehab clinics offer you relapse prevention workshops, mental wellbeing focused sessions, and classes in self-esteem. Others offer CV building workshops, educational sessions, and classes in improving literacy.

Summarising Rehab Clinics in London
