Victoria Sumner Profile (002)About me

Victoria Sumner BSc, MBPSsS, MBACP, MInstLM, VTCT
Alma House Therapies is a holistic practice which offers counselling, psychotherapy and massage therapy from a private home practice. With over 15 years of training, studies and qualifications, I offer a holistic counselling service which includes person-centred therapy, psychodynamic therapy and cognitive behaviour therapy. After completing my degree in Psychology BSc from the University of Leicester in 2008, I continued my training in Counselling Skills with Relate and my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling with South Leicestershire College. Later, I completed additional training and qualifications in Nutrition and Weight Management, Mindfulness and Complementary Therapies (Massage Therapy). My approach to counselling and therapy is a holistic one. I believe each individual should be treated as such, based upon their own unique experiences, thoughts and feelings. As such, by using a multi-modal counselling approach I can create a recovery plan specific to each individual that I see, depending on their preferences and what works for them. I have worked across a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, phobias, addiction, abuse, sexuality and gender issues, and have worked with Coping with Cancer supporting individuals with a cancer diagnosis and their family members. Later, I completed additional training with Turning Point, an organisation specialising in substance abuse and mental health. My goal is to help provide each individual with support and the right tools for their own healing and recovery.
